-Life as an Esteemed Attorney | NHL Franchise Owner-

Introducing

Peter Brauti is a co-managing partner of Brauti Thorning LLP, a renowned legal firm specialized in the handling of criminal law, regulatory offences, professional discipline and some specialized areas of civil litigation.

With degrees from McMaster University, University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School, Peter was called to the Ontario Bar in 1998.

Professional Background

Peter himself has been labelled as one of Canada’s brightest legal minds and one of the best trial attorneys the country has to offer. As such, he is the recipient of many awards and accolades relating to his past and present-day work including:

  • Work as a Federal Crown Attorney in which he conducted hundreds of trials and appeals on behalf of the Attorney General of Canada
  • Work as counsel at every level of court in Ontario, including the Supreme Court of Canada
  • Involvement in litigating many high-profile cases before both judges and juries
  • Representation of numerous renowned individuals including professional athletes, actors, musicians, and political figures
  • Representation of hundreds of professionals including police officers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, accountants, and members of the judiciary

NHL Franchise Ownership

However, labelling Peter as just one of the best lawyers in Canada would be a major oversight. He represents slightly more than that.

He is also the current director of the Hockey Canada Foundation as its general counsel and strategic advisor.

Beyond that however, in 2021 he was officially welcomed into the NHL (National Hockey League) as a co-owner of the league’s newest expansion franchise the Seattle Kraken.

A Memorable Quote from the Episode:

“I’m not going to say that I don’t read the press. I do read it sometimes because I want to get a gauge on at least what some segment of society thinks about the case or what the reporters think about the case. Does it affect the way that I litigate? No, I litigate it the way I think that I’m going to win it or what’s in the best interest of the client. It doesn’t change my approach.”
